Hertford Heath
Hertford’s vibrant ‘little sister’ with a thriving pub scene, nature reserve and great leisure facilities
The great thing about Hertford Heath, which was 2007’s Hertfordshire Village of the Year, is that you get the best of both worlds – the gentle pace, peace and quiet of village life with not one but three historic, bustling market towns within a few minutes’ drive: Hertford, Ware and Hoddesdon. Sitting prettily just a couple of miles from the centre of the County Town of Hertford, it might be peaceful but it’s also buzzing with life.

Talking of schools, Hertford Heath boasts a very famous one of its own: Haileybury, a renowned private school for boys and girls originally known as the East India College when it was established in 1808 to train civil servants for the British administration in India. As well as bringing in numerous visitors who enrich the village’s pubs, local stores and social scene, Haileybury makes available some of its first-class facilities to the local community, including a heated indoor swimming pool, a state-of-the-art fitness suite and squash, badminton and tennis courts.
Added to all these attractions is the fact that, as you can see above, on average Hertford Heath property prices are touch more affordable than those in the county town itself!
